I have had my Day Long seat for 2 years now. It took some time to break it in but now my low back and tail bone feel so much better. Yes you don't move on the seat as much when riding more aggressive but that is a small price to pay. I have a 2007 Yamaha FJR 1300 and would buy this seat again in a heart beat.
But that quibble aside, it's the most comfortable saddle you can buy. How comfortable is it? I fell on the back stairs three weeks ago, and broke my tailbone. I can NOT drive (or even sit for more than a few minutes) in a car without pain. Severe pain. My Vstrom? Not a problem. That wonderful custom seat supports me perfectly, with NOTHING touching the tender spot. This is a wonderful saddle even if you don't have a broken tailbone, but at this point, it's the only way I can get to work and back.
Over a million miles on Russell Day Long seats, and I keep coming back for more.
I want to send my kudos to the team at RDL and Chris, who built my seat. I've owned the seat since June 2016. I put about 24k miles on it in 2016 and then another 31k in 2017. Man oh man, what a HUGE HUGE improvement over the stock K1600GT seat. You've allowed me to enjoy riding immensely and I look forward to many more miles on my RDL.
Considering this is my 12th seat being made for me by Russell Day Long seats....it would be easy to guess that I am VERY happy with their products.
My F800GS had the most uncomfortable seat/ 30 min and I had to get off. I had Russel make me a seat and it is awesome. 3 hour ride back was like sitting on my couch at home. I highly recommend them. No more Buttasaurus :-)
The biggest problem with custom saddles, is that once you've ridden one, you HAVE to get another one for every bike you own afterwards. I've had Meyers (both of them) and two Russells. The one I've got on my Vstrom right now is a Russell. My only quibble is that the leather is much softer and is wearing faster than any saddle I've ever owned, and the bike only has 45, 000 miles on it! I hope they went back to the more durable leather since they made my saddle.
